Element Technica, whose groundbreaking series of Technica 3D Rigs are designed to precisely position a pair of cameras to achieve realistic stereoscopic digital video for broadcast and cinema, is now delivering the first new Quasar™ 3D Rigs to owner/operators and camera rental houses.
The Quasar™ is designed to accommodate full-size digital cinema cameras like the Sony F23 and F35, Red One, Panavision Genesis, as well as full-body and box-type digital broadcast cameras like the Sony F950 and 1500, Philips LDK and others. Regardless of the cameras utilized, the Quasar’s precision and refinement make it an ideal platform for matching zoom or prime lenses to accommodate any shooting style or format.

The next generation of ARRI digital cameras

ARRI is announcing a new range of 35mm-format digital cameras at IBC 2009 - codenamed Alexa - that will redefine the limits of digital motion capture. Based around a newly developed CMOS sensor with unsurpassed sensitivity and dynamic range, the cameras will couple exceptional image quality with flexible, integrated workflows designed to meet the needs of modern postproduction. The Alexa product line-up, priced in the range €50k to €130k, will be available for sale commencing the second quarter of 2010.

Hollywood Theaters to Install Sony 4K Digital Cinema Projectors Across its Circuit

Hollywood Theaters is installing Sony Electronics’ 4K digital cinema technology across its circuit. The Portland, Ore.-based exhibitor will begin its digital conversion by equipping 13 of its U.S. locations (167 screens) with Sony® projectors over the next few months. The 4K roll-out will also include 53 screens outfitted for 3D digital projection, combining Sony’s single-projector 3D lens system with RealD® 3D technology, enabling the exhibitor to deliver the highest-quality 2D and 3D digital projection.

Clearwater Productions of Johannesburg Acquires a Red Camera

Clearwater Productions of Johannesburg South Africa has taken delivery of the first of two Red One 4K digital cinema cameras. CEO Derek White says, “We needed a platform to originate live action and Red is the most cinematic, has the best quality, and the smartest upgrade path. We are actually after the Red Epic (due for release next year) but in order to be eligible to buy one, you need to be a Red One owner first.”

I am new to the site and would like to be part of you all. My interest is related to the Digital Cinema technology and how this technology can remove the barriers to film consumption that has prevented masses of people from consuming film. I am partcularly interested in setting up a chain of digital cinemas in the Townships and rural towns. I am looking for system integrators that can set up Digital projectors, Servers and the like in these Digital Screens. I know that in America there are companies such as Cinedigm that specialize in fitting out Digital Cinemas
Any information in this regard will assist.
